“And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” (Acts 1:4, 5)
For the apostles, waiting for the promise of the Holy Ghost was in some ways, a difficult thing. Thomas, for example, may have been reflecting upon his lack of faith after Jesus had appeared unto them shortly after he was crucified. Whatever things they each may have been concerned about, it was not enough to keep them from waiting for the promise of the Holy Ghost. Like myself, many of you have been trusting God for a change in your circumstances. Some of you may have been waiting for quite some time and the wait is beginning to have a toll on you. My word to you and I is to stand. And after we have done everything to stand, we need to continue to stand, waiting for the promise of God. Will you stand with me?
Prayer: Father, as we continue to stand upon your word and the promises you have given unto us, strengthen our hearts and grant us your peace that we may hold out for the promises found in your word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
