“Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” ( 1 Thessalonians 5:22-24)
For many of us, peace, at times, can seem to be an elusive thing. Sometimes it seems no matter what you try, peace seems just out of your grasp. I’ve certainly been there and have done that. There have even been times when my faith has been tried and tested. Yet no matter how dark my circumstances may have been, God was always faithful to draw me back to the place where my peace was restored. That place is within the will of God. God’s will for each of us is that we trust him with all of our heart and wait upon his promises. When we submit ourselves to his will, God draws us to that place of peace and rest. Like the Good Shepherd he is, he restores our souls and gives us peace, rest, and contentment. He is indeed, the God of peace.
Father, when our hearts become weary, and our steps begin to slide, draw us back to the place where you give unto us your perfect peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
