“Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” (James 5:13-15)
In the book of Hebrews, the writer (who many believe to be the apostle Paul) extols the virtues of faith. Faith is one of the most vital elements of our walk with Christ. Without faith, we cannot please God. However, far to many of us fail to utilize the power of faith in our prayers. As the children of God, we have been given authority over many of the things that try to keep us bound, such as sickness. Through the prayer of faith we can bind sickness. Through the prayer of faith, we can move mountains. But the prayer of faith is powerless if we lack the faith to activate it. Therefore, let us exercise our faith and utilize the prayer of faith that we can overcome sickness and the other mountains that sometimes block our path.
Prayer: Father, we thank you for the measure of faith that you have given unto us. As we draw closer to you, teach us to walk by faith that we may please you and overcome the obstacles that spring up in our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.
