During this season of singleness, it’s easy to get so consumed with wanting to get married that you forget to live and enjoy life now while single.
Don’t let getting married be the only major goal in your life that you look forward to.
Use your time now, while single, to pray about, discover and passionately pursue your purpose – the reason for which you were created in the first place. God has a plan for each and every one of us, and He’s not a respecter of persons. (Acts 10:34)
He’s not withholding such pertinent information from you, while freely giving it to others who are operating in their purpose. (Psalm 84:11) Pray and ask God how He wants you to utilize the gifts and talents He’s placed you, and ask Him how you can be a blessing to others now, while single.
Pray then sit still until you hear a response from Him, and make sure your mind isn’t cluttered with distractions in the form of wrong relationships which may hinder your ability to hear from God clearly.
I remember the year after I got saved at age 19 I asked God what was my purpose. It was only until I obeyed God and cut off a relationship that was going no where (talk about blind leading the blind – I wanted to know my purpose and he didn’t know his either) that I then began to hear and receive instructions from God regarding what He called me to do.
God called me to ministry and to attend ministry school and He told me the passion I had for writing since I was a little girl was also part of my purpose. So in essence, my pen is my purpose.
What’s your purpose? You may be reading this and you already know your purpose, you just haven’t fully acted on it yet. Pray and ask God for the next step; He won’t steer you wrong.
Along with pursuing your purpose also enjoy life with family and friends, travel if you like to travel and pursue your financial goals and make a nice nest egg for yourself now, while single, so you can be an asset to your future spouse and not a liability.
Don’t let getting married be the only thing you strive for while single. Strive to live a full and complete life while fulfilling the perfect will of God and enjoying the ride all the way.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11
