These Are A Few Of My Favorite…..Words

This time of year I like to reflect on some of my favorite things – favorite foods, favorite friends, favorite gifts, etc. And believe it or not, I actually have some favorite words. Words that I like to use when in “deep” conversation (‘deep’ as in intellectually stimulating). Although these words aren’t anything new, they stand out to me because not too many people use them in everyday conversation. In essence, using bigger words makes people sound smarter (even if they really aren’t. Lol!) Here are some of my favs –

  • Combative – having or showing a willingness to fight or argue
  • Misanthrope – a person who does not like other people
  • Enumerate – to name (things) one after another in a list
  • Histrionics – too emotional or dramatic
  • Platitudes – a statement that expresses an idea that is not new
  • Specious – having a false look of truth or genuineness
  • Placate – to cause (someone) to feel less angry about something
  • Illuminate – intellectually or spiritually enlightened
  • Evergreen – retaining freshness or interest
  • Emphatically – said or done in a forceful or definite way

Do you have any favorite words? Words that you like either because you like the way they sound or because they make you sound smarter? If so, share in the comments section below –
